Hosting details from your current provider

To transfer your website and email, we need access to your current hosting environment:

• The login credentials for the control panel at your current hosting provider — such as Plesk, DirectAdmin, cPanel or a similar system.
• The login credentials for your email accounts, if your email runs via your current provider and you want the contents migrated.
• Any custom DNS records you want to keep — such as records for email (MX, SPF, DKIM), subdomain settings or links to external services. Note these down in advance so we can carry them over.

Domain name

A number of things are important for the transfer of your domain name:

• Make sure your domain name is not locked. Many providers apply a so-called "registrar lock" or "transfer lock" to domain names by default. You will need to disable this in advance via your current provider or registrar.
• Request the transfer code (EPP code or authcode) from your current provider. We need this to transfer your domain name.
• Check that the holder details for your domain name are up to date and correct. For some domain names, the transfer must be confirmed by email — that confirmation is sent to the email address registered with the holder.
• Choosing not to transfer your domain name but simply point it to your new hosting package? Then you are responsible for updating the DNS settings at your current registrar so that your domain name points to our server. We will tell you exactly which settings you need.

Website and email

Before we start, we ask you to check the following:

• Make sure your website is up to date. Outdated versions of WordPress, themes or plugins can cause issues during or after the migration.
• Check that your website is working correctly at your current provider. We migrate the website as it is — any existing issues will carry over.
• We migrate your website(s) and email address(es) once. Make sure everything is complete and correct before the migration starts. A re-migration is not included.

What do we do once we receive your details?

As soon as we have received all the necessary details, we get to work. Here is what you can expect from us:

• We check in advance whether your website can be migrated and whether there are any points of attention.
• We migrate your website files, database and email to your new hosting package.
• After the migration, we check that everything is working correctly. Only then do we transfer your domain name — so your website remains accessible right up to the last moment.
• You will receive a confirmation from us as soon as the migration is complete.

Which packages include the migration service?

The free migration service is available with our Web Hosting, WordPress Hosting and Email Hosting packages. In the vast majority of cases, a migration request falls well within our free service — we work on the basis of fair use.

How many websites do we migrate for free?

We migrate the maximum number of websites included with your package:

• Web Spark — 1 website
• Web Blaze — up to 3 websites
• Web Ignite — up to 10 websites
• WP Spark — 1 website
• WP Blaze — up to 3 websites
• WP Ignite — up to 10 websites

Reseller Hosting

For Reseller Hosting, we offer migration on request — whether and how a migration is possible depends on your situation.

Get in touch with us in advance so we can assess what is feasible and give you a clear indication of the options.

Other conditions

• Request the migration service within 30 days of ordering your hosting package.
• The migration service is carried out once per package — not in multiple separate requests. Make sure you provide everything at once.
• We migrate websites where we have access to the files and database. For closed website builders without file access, migration is unfortunately not possible.
• Cancelling your package with your current provider is your own responsibility — preferably only after the migration has been completed successfully and you have confirmed that everything is working as expected.
• We migrate the website and email as they are at the time of migration. Changes you make at your current provider afterwards will not be included.

Downtime during migration

We do everything we can to prevent downtime. In most cases your website remains accessible during the migration — we migrate the data first and only update the domain name after a successful check. Do you have a high-traffic website or specific requirements? Get in touch in advance so we can coordinate this together.

What if the migration does not succeed?

We never start a migration that we expect will not go well. If during preparation it turns out that migration is not feasible — for example due to an outdated website, missing details or a closed platform — we will contact you and discuss the available options.
