How to activate the professional spam filter

Add your domain name, update the MX records and your incoming e-mail will be filtered automatically.

Add your domain name

Add your domain name via the client portal. Specify which mail server your incoming e-mail should be forwarded to after filtering.

Step 2

Update MX records

As a hosting customer, you do not need to do anything — we update the MX records for you. Resellers and Managed VPS customers do this themselves via their DNS management.

Step 3

Filter is active

The spam filter is immediately active. Incoming e-mail is automatically scanned and blocked messages appear in your quarantine.

Every incoming message is checked for spam, malware and phishing. Unknown senders are temporarily held back via greylisting — an effective method for blocking automated spam before it reaches your inbox.

We also screen your outgoing e-mail for malicious content. Messages with harmful content are blocked before they are sent, so your domain name and server stay off blacklists.

The free spam filter blocks most spam automatically and is more than sufficient for most users.

If spam is still getting through, or if you want more insight into what is being blocked, the professional filter gives you more. You get better detection with greylisting, a quarantine to view and release blocked messages, and statistics per domain so you always know what is being stopped.

The professional spam filter is only available in combination with a hosting or Managed VPS package at xYnta. The filter acts as an extra check before your mail server: incoming e-mail passes through our filter first and is then forwarded to your mail server.

This requires updating your MX records. For hosting customers, we handle this completely. Resellers and Managed VPS customers update the MX records themselves via their DNS management — we will tell you exactly which records to configure.

Yes. Via the spam filter section in your control panel, you can see all messages that have been placed in quarantine. For each message, you can choose whether it should be delivered or not. If you think a message was stopped by mistake, you release it and it will be delivered straight away. You can also permanently allow or block specific senders, so future messages from that sender are always handled correctly.

No, your normal e-mail will not be blocked. The outgoing filter checks whether messages show signs of spam, malware or harmful content. Normal e-mail passes through without issue. The filter is specifically there to prevent a hacked website or misused e-mail account from sending harmful messages via your server — without you noticing.

Yes. After activation, you can add domain names yourself via the client portal, up to the configured maximum. Resellers start with a minimum of 5 domain names, Managed VPS customers with a minimum of 10.

Because you take a minimum number, the rate per domain name is lower: resellers pay € 1.50 per domain per month, Managed VPS customers € 0.75. Would you like to increase the number of domain names you can add? Contact us and we will arrange it.
