Transfer your domain name — in three steps

A transfer does not have to be complicated. Follow the steps below and we will make sure your domain name is moved correctly and without interruption.

Step 1

Gather the required details

Make sure you have your transfer code and that the domain name is unlocked at your current provider. Exactly what you need depends on your extension — read more further down this page.

Step 2

Place your order

Submit the transfer request via our website and enter your details and transfer code. We will process the request and start the transfer as soon as everything has been filled in correctly.

Step 3

Transfer complete — ready to use

Once complete your domain name appears in your account and you manage it via our control panel. Some transfers are done within a few hours, others may take up to 5 to 10 business days.

Domain check

Check instantly whether your domain name is still available

Enter your desired name and go straight to the availability check.

Tip: also try variations such as .com or .shop.

Check this before you start

Good preparation prevents delays and ensures your domain name is transferred smoothly and without interruption. Go through these points before you start the transfer process.

Request your transfer code

Request the transfer code from your current provider. Not all extensions require a transfer code — check our knowledge base for your extension.

Disable the transfer lock

Some extensions use a transfer lock. Disable it via your current provider before submitting the transfer request.

Check registrant details

Make sure your contact details are up to date at your current provider. Transfers are confirmed by email to the registrant's address.

Transfer in time

Some domains must be transferred well before they expire. Plan the transfer at least 30 to 45 days before the expiry date.
